Behind the Shot.

In the vast expanse of the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, a stunning sunset unfolded. Despite the absence of clouds, about 20 minutes after the sun had set, a gorgeous gradient painted the sky. A fiery blend transitioning to a cold, blue night sky. Capturing the moment with a telephoto zoom, I focused on a cluster of dunes occupying the lower third of the image. The gradient sky dominated the remaining two-thirds. A lone figure standing atop one of the dunes appeared microscopic, emphasizing the immense scale of the landscape. It was a testament to the incredible beauty and scale that the Great Sand Dunes hold, even in the absence of traditional sunset hues.
