Portland Maple

Behind the Shot.

In the enchanting Portland Japanese Garden, my quest was to locate a famous maple tree that had eluded me on previous visits. This time, I triumphantly discovered it amidst the magical surroundings. Despite its modest height of around three feet, the clever use of a wide-angle lens allowed me to capture the entire tree, imparting the illusion of greater stature. Beneath the canopy of this petite yet iconic tree, the ground was a lush carpet of green moss. The tree's leaves displayed a mesmerizing gradient, transitioning from vibrant green at the base to a spectrum of yellows, oranges, and reds. It was a captivating scene where the small stature of the tree belied the grandeur captured through the lens, showcasing the intricate beauty of nature within the Portland Japanese Garden.
