Fresh Snow in the Valley

Behind the Shot.

Amidst a winter journey from Colorado to Utah, I encountered the unpredictable dance of weather. Battling treacherous conditions in the Colorado snowstorm, I neared the border, transitioning into stormy clouds and sporadic rain in Utah. Camping overnight, the rain subtly shifted to snow around 3 am, creating a cold, pristine blanket over the campsite. Eager to catch the sunrise, I set out early, driving through varying snow conditions. Surprisingly, the snow diminished along the way, disappearing in some areas. However, as I approached the sunrise location, the landscape transformed. A breathtaking layer of fresh snow coated the desert valley, a rare and enchanting sight. With excitement bubbling, I explored the snow-covered terrain. Just as the sunrise neared, the clouds relented, allowing a subtle but magical light to pierce through. It was a morning of indescribable beauty, marked by the unexpected juxtaposition of snow in the desert, creating an unforgettable and uniquely special experience.
